Hands down the best gourmet Chinese food in California, plus it's halal! I love the three flavor sizzling rice soup, sweet and sour chicken, lamb cumin and the potstickers.

2. Jeff J.

Best Asain food in the Belmont Shore area for sure.  Try their green scallion pancakes. Everything else is fresh and well made.

3. Tecoyia S.

Good service, delicious food, not a formal spot and that's what loved about it. I'll definitely go back again.

Food is very tasty and freshly made.  I rounded this review up from where it should be (3.5) just because of the flavor and quality of the ingredients.

Be aware, this place can get crazy busy.  But they do everything that they can to get you seated quickly.  Was brought here as a guest, I had not heard of or been to Nomad before.  It was busy, but not too loud inside.

They make their own in-house version of a Ginger-Ale that is crazy good.  Real snap and bite of ginger to it, highly recommend.  Service overall was good but had a couple of mishaps due to how busy it was. The people who work there are so very nice and accommodating.  They were working hard with a full place and a 40-minute wait outside.

Had several dishes, some vegetarian, some tofu and a couple of meat items were ordered as well.  Scallion pancakes rocked.  Everything is served family style, each plate good for about 3 good sized eaters.  They completely missed an ordered item but did not charge us.  Plates were brought to our table that did not belong to us, again, it was a busy hectic night.  Hand pulled chow-mien was awesome as was the Chinese broccoli.  Highly recommend both.

Since I had not been here before, I did not know that it was halal until arriving.  I really try to stay away from kosher and halal due to the amount of animal cruelty in the butchering of the animals.  True halal and kosher meats are processed by slitting the animals throat and letting them bleed out, while completely alive, bleating, screaming, so that the other animals hear them and see them, struggling and conscious through the whole procedure as they bleed to death being butchered. I find this to be extreme animal cruelty. Say what you will about standard meat processing in the USA, but at least the animals are killed quickly (shot in the head) and humanely, kept separated from the other animals as they are being killed, prior to any butchering or processing of the animals.  Religion and politics are no excuse for animal cruelty in any way, shape or form.

I would probably come again but only if I was eating tofu or vegetarian.  But if I am in that mindset-great place to go.

Nomad Asian Bistro is truly hidden gem in the heart of Long Beach. Featuring authentic Chinese inspired dishes that taste home cooked and are served family style. Not to mention this place is 100% halal and always packed. We came in on a Saturday night with a party of 10. They easily accommodated us with a table. Side note if we arrived just 20 mins later it would have been over an hour wait. I would have waited because this food is delicious. Call ahead to reserve if you're coming with a large party as I haven't seen this restaurant not busy. Each portion can easily be shared between 2-3 people. I would rank what we ordered as follows. Don't hate on me for ranking the NSR as #9. It lacked crisp and flavor. It was good. Would I get it again no. Garlic jalapeño beef was amazing. Service was top tier multiple people checked up on us. They also have prayer mats and a place to pray. If you're in the mood for an Asian Bistro support local and small business.

1. Garlic Jalapeño Beef
2. Honey walnut shrimp (really these both score #1 for me)
3. Chowmein / Green Beens
4. Orange chicken
5. Kung pao chicken (Could be spicer)
6. Chicken fried rice
7. Chicken spring rolls
8. White steamed rice
9. Nomad Short Ribs.
